This picture was taken in Advance, Alabama. Walker Evans was the photographer of this picture. It looks to be abandoned store and was taken in the middle of the day. There is absolutely no one in sight in this photograph. The broken sign catches my eye first. On the side of the shack it says furniture Co. It must have been a small business but was destroyed later on. The condition it looks like it hasn’t been taken care of at all. The owners must have ignored it. Dirt surrounds it. The tone of this photograph is very heavy. I would not want to be in the working place or live in these conditions. It’s a negative picture. My response to the previous question was that I think that the photographer was trying to tell us that during these times some places were in very bad conditions. If you just left a place there, no one would go and tell you to take care of it. Many people probably vandalized some of the buildings. As I mentioned before, this could have been a business at one time but then was destroyed. If I could ask the photographer any two questions I would as him how it got to be so vandalized and if it was a big business at one point.

This is the tenant of a negro family in a town near Greensboro, Alabama. It was taken by Jack Delano. The setting is outside of what seems to be the house of a negro family. It is a photo taken from the outside. It is a rural setting. The picture looks to have been taken in the middle of the day or when it was light out. There are seven people outside of the home. The clothing on them seems to be old rags or just anything they can find. The ages of them look to be between 2 to 40. There are young adults there and a mother with her child. The distinguishing features in this picture are the fact that the house does not look like it’s in very good condition. It would not be my first choice to live now. The thing that catches my eye first is that there are so many people living in such a small house. This looks like someone’s home. It is in very poor condition. You can see that there is some farmland in the back of there house. The tone of this photograph is that it’s heavy and dark. It has a negative effect. My response to the tone is that I feel bad that they had to go through living in those conditions. If I could ask the subjects in this picture I would ask them what there house was like inside and if they got food easily. I would also ask them if they lived by any local stores or markets.

Amanda I This picture was taken in May of 1941. Jack Delano was the photographer. This is a main street in Greensboro, Alabama. This was taken outdoors in what seems to be the middle of the day. It is light outside. It is an urban location. I see many old-fashioned cars lined up. About 5 people are standing outside of the Grady Lawless & Co.One person is crossing the street. All of them look like they are in their mid thirties. The attire of them is overalls. They might have been going to work or had just got out of work. The amount of stores lined up catches my eye first. They go all the way down to the end of the street. I only see many businesses and no houses. They seem to be in pretty good condition. They are a lot of cars so they most likely get a big rush of people everyday. The structures are surrounded by people and cars. The picture is very light because everything looks to be going very smoothly. This picture is positive. My response to the question is that I think that the photographer was trying to get his point across that not all places were in very bad conditions and that there were some places that were normal. If I could ask any two questions I would ask if the businesses in this picture were doing well and what types of people usually came over there.

This picture was taken in May of 1941. Jack Delano was the photographer. This is a main street in Greensboro, Alabama. This was taken outdoors in what seems to be the middle of the day. It is light outside. It is an urban location. I see many old-fashioned cars lined up. About 5 people are standing outside of the Grady Lawless & Co. One person is crossing the street.
